James B. Stump, PhD
Vice President for Academic Services, Professor of Philosophy, Bethel College
After graduating with a B.A. in Math and Science education, Jim and his wife spent a year teaching in a missionary kids' school in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Then he earned an M.A. in Philosophy from Northern Illinois University (1995) and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Boston University (2000). He taught philosophy for five years at Bethel College (Indiana) before accepting an administrative post. Despite his new duties, he remains actively involved in speaking and scholarship. He was awarded a Templeton-Oxford Fellowship for the summers of 2003-2005 to study at Wycliffe Hall in the area of religion and science. He also serves as a Book Review Editor of Philosophia Christi.
